World Breastfeeding Week:: Another Product Roundup

This week on Market Mommy we are featuring breastfeeding products invented, made and sold by moms in honor of World Breastfeeding Week. If you missed our previous post, it’s here. Although breastfeeding is crucial to the health of babies, it’s not always easy. It can sometimes be painful and uncomfortable. Kudos to these moms and the products they offer for helping other moms become better breastfeeders. We’ll have one more product round-up tomorrow, so stay tuned! 

Anita Jamshidi is the inventor of the Utterly Yours Breast Pillow. “Personally, breastfeeding was the way I wanted to nurture my children. I believe it’s the best source of nutrition for the child,” she said. She created the pillow because she was determined to find a better solution than using a folded towel to support her breast. Jamshidi feels that the Utterly Yours Pillow gives moms a way to be successful and persevere; and not give up out of frustration.

Dr. Lennox McNeary and Dr. Cheri Wiggins are the co-founders of The Mommy Doctors Bakery. Both are physicians and work full-time in addition o raising their families. As physicians, the women note the positive health effects of breastfeeding such as decreasing the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, protecting against childhood obesity and leukemia, and decreasing the risk of breast cancer and type 2 diabetes in mothers. They developed Milkin’ Cookies so that mothers could boost milk supply but also get a delicious and healthy snack. Each cookie is made with all-natural ingredients. Simple Wishes was founded by four sisters (all moms) who wanted to make life a little easier for multi-tasking and professional moms. The Simple Wishes sisters designed a hands-free pumping bustier to be supportive, comfortable with customizable features to fit every mom's unique body. The sisters agreed that this was a much needed product that was missing in the marketplace.
